The September 11 Terror Attacks in the United States of America is one of the crimes in recent history which shook the world, for a long time movies had portrayed such an attack to become the next blockbuster smash however when a group of Muslim men led by "spiritual" leader Osama Bin Ladin brought down four planes on that fateful morning the world as one gasped in dis-belief.

Images flooded television screens of passenger planes being flown into both the north and south towers of the World Trade Centre, an iconic part of the New York landscape, which brought the towers crashing to the ground with many workers still trapped inside.

Radio Air-waves were filled with silence, dis-orientated talking by DJ's as along with the rest of the world we all tried to comprehend what had just happened.

How did scenes or ideas from Hollywood become such an event that shook the world, gone were the days you could walk through the airport making jokes about Die Hard and the famous airport scene there.

Gone are the days when businessmen and women could be running late for a flight and skip through security, and gone are the days little kids could go to the cockpit while on a long-haul flight and see out the front of the plane and what the captains were doing.

But most importantly gone are the lives of 2,973 men, women, children, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters who were killed by an organization looking to cause terror not only in the United States of America but around the globe.

Okay I will start the discussion about this to share my thoughts.

I remember this day like it was just yesterday. Here in Australia it was about 10pm at night and Sandra Sully the host of Channel Ten's late news was presenting the days news - I was staying awake because I was waiting to watch the movie MASK with Cher in it as I had seen the end about 20000 times but never the beginning so I was determined to see it this night.

During the first segment you could tell she was being spoken to through her ear-piece as she lost her place on the tele-prompter while reading an unrelated story.

Then just before they went to the first lot of ads she said.

"News just in, a plane has just hit one of the World Trade Centres in New York. We will bring you live pictures after the break."

After what seemed like an ad break that lasted forever she came back on and said that they would now be taking us to live pictures of a plane that hit the world trade centre and the camera flicked up with smoke bellowing from the tower.

Just as she was talking about how no one knows what had happened, fire crews were on the scene etc etc you saw another plane fly into the shot and hit the other building and she just went quiet.

I was in shock I couldn't believe what had happened.

Then Sandra said: "It is obvious now that the first plane accident was not an accident, with the second plane hitting the other tower this is definately a terror attack."

From then any hope of watching MASK was gone as I stayed up until four in the morning watching over and over the towers being struck, followed by the news and vision of the pentagon being hit and then news of the fourth plane.

I eventually fell asleep and my mother and step father woke up to go to work and while having their morning coffee woke me up due to their loud noise and asked what movie I was watching.

I then told them this was no movie it was a real live terror attack.
