UFO Hunting - the facts and the hoaxes.
by mulder 10th May 2010, 11:01 AM

Do you ever look up at the sky at night, looking at the stars, and wonder what if anything was out there? Well you are not alone statistics show that over half a million people on a yearly basis spend their long nights, weekends and holidays staring at the skies searching for the answers to one of lifes biggest questions - is there other intelligent life beyond our planet or universe?

A quick search on google alone returnes over 5 660 000 results of websites and webpages dedicated to the discussion of UFO Spotting, the practice of sitting in clear open land away from the city lights looking skywards for some sort of sign, response or evidence that Unidentified Flying Objects truly exist.

The practice of watching the skies for out of this world has been well documented in countless television documentaries, radio interviews, websites and magazines - however this article is neither pro nor con towards this article instead it is to outline the facts and hoaxes regarding such practices.

Facts
There are 2 450 registered organizations in the United States of America alone whose members spend their nights watching the skies for some sort evidence of Unidentified Flying Objects in our night skies.

It is estimated that from these 1 500 welcome visitors and guests into their inner most sanctrum, to share experiences, records and techniques in hunting for Unidentified Flying Objects.

While there is no denying that looking at the skies, beyond the aeroplanes that fill the flight paths in our respective countries there are countless number of light flashes.

These light flashes have been recorded by many of the 2 450 registered UFO Spotting Organizations as evidence that some sort of alien life form are responding to their advances.

Techniques
Techniques involved in hunting for Unidentified Flying Objects are very basic, yet believers insist are very effective.

These include:-
- Flashing a spotlight into the night sky with random rythyms and waiting for responses.
- Watching for abnormal flight patterns of "stars".
- "Beaming" sound files "into space" and awaiting a response.

While these are easily collected and claimed as evidence by many of the organizations registered around the globe skeptics and even some believers agree that it is far from evidence.

Night flashes in the sky can be scientifically explained as Space Debris which reflects on the sun - a simple look at some camera vision from space shuttle missions and images from the Hubble Telescope can show how much space debris is actually flying around.

Other reasons or excuses of Night Flashes can be meteors that are further out in the solar system that are only just viewable to the human eye. There is an estimated 200 000 meteors that are in our solar system as we speak.

Hoaxes
While many organizations are professionally structured, and they take their roles of providing true evidence to the world that Unidentified Flying Objects trule exist there are some organizations who pray for those of us wanting the truth and therefore fake evidence to entice you to spend your money with them.

Many people think it is funny to hoax evidence, even some people who are deemed credible in the field, however all they are doing is preventing the true work and scientific evidence from being recognized for what it is.

Some well known hoaxes that have been pulled include some organizations putting a piece of clingwrap (sorry I am Australian and don't know what you call it elsewhere) between two tree's, this is more or less invisible.

And therefore what some organizations who do this do is use a simple $2 lazer light and shine it on the clingwrap, while this sounds basic and as though it would not fool anyone this gives the impression that after shining a light into the sky out of nowhere a red light is shining back, flying in weird patterns or even finishing off rythyms that they have shone into the night sky.

So whether you are a believer, a skeptic or someone just wanting to know the truth it is important to do your research as to what organizations in your area may be the best for you.

Some provide their own website with evidence they have captured, watch the video's look at the photographs and see if you can come up with an explination for it - if not then pay your money and go and view them, if you are unsure what is the harm of paying your money to view it for your own two eyes taking into account what could be used to show you what is being classed as evidence.
